You cannot teach freedom from oppressed principles.
Of any kind.
Freedom is passed on through liberated language and protected dreamers.

The Artist
The moment anyone tries to demean or degrade you in any way, you have to know how great you are. Nobody would bother to beat you down if you were not a threat.
— Cicely Tyson

A jack of many trades, narrowing things down to one medium is quite difficult. I entertain myself with art modalities like dancers practice multiple styles or singers croon through different genres. Although I’ve been a student of photography since I was a little girl, and I’ve been writing since grade school, nothing beats Industrial Design.

Functional art sparks a completely different fire in me. From ceramics, to jewelry making, instruments, building businesses, and cutting hair, I haven’t found anything that feels as satisfying as creating something from a daydream into reality.

Write It Out

I consider writing to be one of my most easily accessible forms of art. I have been writing creatively and have kept some type of journal since I was around 8 or 9 years old. While I have been traveling for the past 4 years, I have found that journaling regularly allows for me to see progress and keep record of my own personal journey to creating the world I want to live in.

A Bearded Lady’s Passage

In 2022 at the end of my first nomadic year, I began to keep very specific journals for specific reasons. I knew that my life was about to start taking some crazy turns, because I had to think differently than everything that had shaped me and whatever I previously thought.

In 2024, I created Puffs & Prompts, a writing outlet and community for all types of writers to be inspired by writing together while sharing some of our favorite indulgences.

*Keep an eye out this 2026, we’re going virtual!!

Abstract

My new favorite art form has taken shape in sewing! I took a beginner class at Sew Creative in Washington, DC, winter of 2023. I didn’t get another chance to sew until this past summer of 2025. In short, I have been making everything I can think up and figure out with only a couple of stitches and my imagination.

One of my most recent pieces that have been well received is the Bearded Lady Hearts sweatshirt hoodie. Initially, I up-cycled an old sweatshirt, and then friends liked it so much, I found myself knee-deep in hoodies and Ankara prints. I use Ankara prints specifically because of the time I’ve spent visiting Africa. As The Continent is the cradle of Civilization, I believe the same goes for the heart.

Although we all have hearts, each one is as different as our experiences. How it beats, the life it has lived, and how it loves. Consider the BLH hoodie to be a social engagement for the world to witness individuals as walking installations. What happens when we can visibly see one another’s hearts? Each heart is created by hand, with the desire to create a new language of intentionality. What will you say about your heart?
